In the capacity of being an Employer I needed to start a Dismissal process of my
domestic worker. I had reported the matter to SAPS. The relationship between me
and my employee became strained during the last years and my frustration and
anxiety towards her had been tested once too much.
Having a legal qualification myself I was not comfortable with representing myself as
it was not my field and I was too involved and felt that I did not want to risk doing
something incorrectly. I asked Google AI to assist me in finding a lawyer who did
Labour Matters in my area (Johannesburg/Randburg/Sandton. It was narrowed down
to two firms. I read all the websites etc and decided that CGG Inc it will be.
From the beginning when I asked for a consultation, I sensed that the staff in this
office were professional, ethical, dedicated and had a human touch to it. The staff
were calm and took time to listen and understand the issue. The first consultation
was with Gerrie Grové (MD). In my career I have had to deal with attorneys often
and sadly most of them were abrupt and rude and treated their clients as an entity
and did not take into account that the client needed patience, understanding and
information about the case they had to deal with. In this practice this is
their approach and they are guided by the example Gerrie Grové sets.
Depending on the information one gives them and documents one has to prove the
contract between employer and employee, and what the problem is. They remain
patient and calm every time one deals with them. This matter ended up in a
Disciplinary Hearing and the Employee was found guilty of Gross misconduct. The
Employee tried to have the matter postponed every time until I objected and knew
that the aim was to receive her salary as long as she could. The disciplinary hearing
proceeded. Throughout the hearing Gerrie Grové and Lukas Nukeri (Candidate
Attorney and Professional Assistant) remained courteous and impartial and treated
myself and the employee with the utmost respect and professionalism. I was filled
with anxiety, as I had had more than enough of the employee's insubordination and
other unpleasant characteristics over 16 years. Despite my anxiety, the staff assisted
me where needed. They were very knowledgeable and knew how to deal with the
parties.
The professional Assistant, Lukas Nukeri and the Legal Secretary Anzelle Koen,
were on the ball. They knew the matter just as well as Mr Grové and undertook their
commitments as soon as possible. The knowledge and insight that Lukas Nukeri has
and his calm nature is phenomenal. He can speak 8 languages. This is a very
important aspect in any matter.
Mr. Grové, Mr. L Nukeri and Ms Anzelle Koen are a team who act fast, do what they
need to in an admirable, professional and ethical manner. I wish this well-oiled team
many mandates.
